Hitachi AMN1220 GPON Fiber to the Premises System Recognized as Nortel Compatible Product

--Hitachi GPON platform completes interoperability testing with Nortel Communication Server 2000--

ATLANTA, GA, April 19, 2007- Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced that the company's AMN1220 GPON product has successfully completed laboratory interoperability testing with the Nortel Communication Server 2000 (CS 2000), a carrier grade softswitch that can scale up to 2,000,000 Busy Hour Call Attempts (BHCA). The Nortel CS 2000 provides transport of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic in Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) format.

The systems tested were the Hitachi AMN1220 GPON System Release 1.1, and the Nortel Communication Server 2000 Release SN09. Testing was conducted via the Nortel Media Gateway 15000 using H.248 protocol, Nortel Multimedia PC SIP Client, Media Gateway Control Protocol Integrated Access Device (MGCP IAD), and Centrex IP lines. Features and functions tested include Registration and Authentication, 3rd Party SIP Line Device (3PSL to 3PSL, 3PSL Recovery, 3PSL interworking, codec negotiation, SDP acceptance), calling features (CallerID, forward, hold, transfer, 3-way calling, conferencing, call waiting, and other advanced functions).

The Nortel Certificate of Compatibility for the Hitachi AMN1220 GPON system is available on Nortel's Developer Program website at the following location: http://www.nortel.com/prd/dpp/product/prodpages/certs/cert2028.html.

Hitachi's AMN1220 GPON system is currently deployed with multiple third party services platforms. Added to these deployments, the Nortel CS 2000 testing is part of an ongoing effort by Hitachi to provide the widest variety of services platform solutions for operators who implement Hitachi's GPON solution.

"The Fiber to the Premises system is the glue that joins services and applications in an operator's access network," said David Foote, Hitachi Telecom's chief technology officer. "Hitachi is committed to making it easy for operators to integrate our GPON solution with their existing infrastructure - from large scale to small - as well as with new technologies as they adapt their networks for the future."
