Hitachi Communications Technologies America Receives ISO 9001:2008 Certification for Salira Division
SANTA CLARA, CA, March 1, 2010 - Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. (HCTA), the only vendor offering a comprehensive line of EPON, GPON, DePON™, MW-PON™, and RFoG equipment, today announced that it has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification. ISO 9001 certification is an internationally recognized quality award given to companies that consistently implement the procedures needed to deliver consistent product quality, from initial product design, through final equipment delivery and customer support. Achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification means that HCTA's customers can be assured that the company achieves the highest standards for product and service.
HCTA is an industry leader in the design, manufacture, and service of passive optical networking equipment for the telecom and cable industries. The Salira division, formerly Salira Systems, Inc., was founded in 2000 to develop cost effective fiber solutions to meet the rapidly growing need for subscriber bandwidth. Since that time, the Salira division of HCTA has created revolutionary product lines including DePON™ (which enables DOCSIS™ management of EPON systems) and MW-PON™ (which provides increased fiber bandwidths through the use of multiple PON wavelengths). These innovations put Hitachi at the forefront of vendors enabling the growth of business services on cable operator networks.
In 2009, Hitachi, Ltd. merged Salira with Hitachi Telecom (USA) Inc. to form HCTA. By leveraging Hitachi's world-class R&D; and manufacturing capabilities, HCTA is able to provide the product quality and supply chain excellence that service providers and their subscribers require. The broad access portfolio represented by the merged companies makes HCTA uniquely-positioned to deliver cost effective fiber solutions to the "last mile" challenges faced by service providers around the world.
"HCTA is committed to delivering the highest quality products in keeping with Hitachi's long history of product excellence," explained Toru Takesue, HCTA's President and CEO. "Our ISO certification recognizes HCTA's ongoing efforts to improve quality and reliability, in all our product and service offerings."
Randall Lee, Quality Manager, added: "The initial decision to seek ISO 9001:2008 certification was taken to insure that HCTA delivers DePON™ and MW-PON™ products capable of supporting the business class SLAs on which our customers depend."
The ISO 9000 system was originally published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation of national standards bodies, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO 9001:2008 is the most recent revision of the ISO 9000 standard.
