Hitachi Multi-Functional WDM Solution Offers
Versatile Optical Transport Options, Compact Size

- AMN6200 WDM system provides data rates up to 10Gbps, Fibre Channel
interface, CWDM and DWDM, long-haul and metro services -

ATLANTA, GA, August 24, 2010 - Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. (HCTA) today announced that the Hitachi AMN6200 wavelength division multiplexing system is available in North America for enterprise, metro and long haul optical transport applications. The AMN6200 is currently deployed internationally with over 2,500 systems in service. The AMN6200 provides an extensive selection of interfaces, including Ethernet up to 10G, TDM from 155M to 10G, and Fibre Channel from 1G to 4G with more interfaces planned for 2011. The AMN6200 supports multiple topologies, including point-to-point, ring, star, spur, or any combination.

The Fibre Channel interface has been tested and certified with Hitachi Data Systems (www.hds.com) storage systems, and supports low-latency, extended-distance Fibre Channel connectivity for MAN, WAN extension for Hitachi Universal Storage Platform® V and VM systems, the Hitachi NAS Platform, and RAID systems (Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2000 family of midrange storage systems).

"The Fibre Channel interface and the ability to serve CWDM and DWDM from the same chassis make the AMN6200 an ideal solution for data center connectivity," said Scott Wilkinson, Vice President, Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. "The system supports time-sensitive, mission-critical business processes such as remote replication, storage area network (SAN) extension and data center consolidation across large distances." Wilkinson continued, "At the same time, the wide variety of Ethernet and TDM interfaces up to 10 Gigabits per second and the product's adaptability to multiple network architectures make the AMN6200 an efficient solution for many metro and long haul transport applications."
