The ONU 603 is part of Salira's family of Optical Network Units designed to deliver broadband services to commercial and residential subscribers, with the bandwidth and speed advantages of fiber. When connected to Salira's DePONTM system, these ONUs integrate seamlessly into a DOCSIS-based network to replace cable modems while requiring no changes to existing DOCSIS and OSS operating procedures. The ONUs are engineered to support the most demanding service requirements and comply with the latest IEEE, MEF, and ITU-T standards as well as CableLabs' PacketCableTM Multimedia (PCMM) specifications. The Salira ONU 603 is the commercial model of a double-play device, with a metal enclosure for added protection. The ONU has four Gigabit Ethernet ports for data traffic and two POTS interfaces to support advanced voice features. The device also supports an optional backup battery.
