AMN1220 GSBU

GPON Fiber-to-the-Premises Optical Network Terminal for small business applications

The AMN1220 GSBU supports small business applications with Ethernet, POTS and DS1/E1 interfaces. The GSBU terminates a single fiber from the central office or headend, and supports mul-tiple combinations of data, voice, and IP video services. The unit is hardened for exterior deployment, and can be mounted on the exterior of a building in a weather-proof case. The units can also be mounted in an indoor equipment room, or in groups in a larger exterior cabinet.

The AMN1220 GSBU features a data port that operates at 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX or 1000 BASE-T. To accommodate busi-ness systems such as TDM PBXs, the unit provides two DS1/E1 interfaces. A battery backup unit can be equipped to support continued operation in the event of a power outage.

Features

Optical Interface

The AMN1220 GSBU supports network connectivity through an SC/APC fiber connector. This interface supports 2.5 Gbps 1490 nm optical downstream network services traffic and 1.25 Gbps 1310 nm optical upstream data bursts per ITU-TG.984.2 using Class B+ optics with power leveling capability.

Ethernet Interface

The GSBU supports data services through a single 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet interface via an RJ45 connector. It meets IEEE 802.3 specifications and supports full and half duplex modes.

DS1/E1 Interface

The GSBU supports two DS1/E1 interfaces through RJ-48c connectors. These ports can be configured in CES mode (two DS1/E1 line interfaces provide Unstructured (RFC4553: SAToP) or Structured* (IETF CESoPSN)).

POTS Interface

The GSBU supports basic telephone service through 8 POTS interfaces using RJ-11 connectors.

Highlights

  • Operating temperature range: ONT -40 °C to +46 °C (-40 °F to 114.8 °F) ambient plus solar load
  • Operating temperature range: Outdoor Enclosure -40 °C to +65 °C (-40 °F to 149 °F)
  • Remotely supported and managed by standard G.984.4 OMCI management protocol for alarm and AVC reporting, software down-load and activation with integrity checking and automatic rollback, MIB upload and MIB reset support via standard OMCI commands.
  • Supports up to 64 VLANs providing tagging, double tagging, and VLAN switching for secure traffic management to multiple end users.
  • Supports QoS with 4 traffic classes for triple-play services support
  • At the TC layer, the GPON interface provides up to 8 TCONTs (including OMCI) and can support both single and multiple TCONT traffic mapping.
  • Synchronous* network timing support using the recovered optical interface clock, eliminating the need for a local clock source
  • Asynchronous Adaptive or Differential timing recovery
  • RSSI for measurement of optical link performance
  • Loop timing
  • Meets jitter and wander performance at G.823, G.824 and G8261 levels
  • Power management extends POTS and DS1/E1 capability in the event of power loss.
  • Available outdoor enclosure (not shown) provides protection from environmental and intrusion hazards.
  • Intrusion alarm is activated when the inner door is
