The C-1503-MW is part of Salira's family of Optical Network Units (ONUs) designed to deliver broadband services to commercial and residential subscribers, with the bandwidth and speed advantages of fiber. The Salira MW-PONTM combines CWDM technology with Ethernet PONs to provide 4Gbps symmetrical data rates through one fiber, effectively quadrupling the bandwidth of Salira's EPON systems. This is achieved by using Salira's innovative multi-wavelength technology while maintaining compliance with the latest IEEE and MEF standards as well as CableLabs' PacketCableTM Multimedia (PCMM) specifications.
When connected to Salira's DePONTM system, the ONU integrates seamlessly into a DOCSIS-based network to replace cable modems with extensions such as Multimedia Terminal Adapters (MTAs), home routers, and video gateways. No changes to existing DOCSIS OSS operating procedures are required. The Salira C-1503-MW is the commercial model of a triple-play device with four Gigabit Ethernet ports for data traffic, two POTS interfaces which support advanced voice features, and one analog cable port for video transport. The device also supports wireless WiFi access and two optional rechargeable batteries for power backup.
