Hitachi's Salira HeadEnd equipment is designed to integrate seamlessly with the equipment in your existing network.
Salira's HeadEnd equipment manages service delivery from a Central Office or Point-of-Presence to Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) devices located at remote customer locations. Salira's carrier-class, standards-compliant design simplifies integration in service provider environments. Choose from high-density or low-density versions of the product.
On the network side, Salira's IEEE 802.3ah compliant Optical Line Terminal (OLT) products connect to Layer 2/Layer 3 switch/routers at the edge network. Each Passive Optical Network (PON) emanating from Salira's head-end equipment is connected to multiple Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) devices using a single fiber strand.

This fiber is fed through a passive optical splitter and divided into multiple distribution fibers that connect to Salira CPE devices. This configuration forms a Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON). On the head-end side, Hitachi's Salira OLTs come in high-density and low-density versions for use either at the headend or at intermediate nodes.
