Hitachi

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer

General Overview

AMN 6100 DWDM Shelf

Hitachi Telecom's AMN6100 DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexer) system uses technology that allows 128 wavelengths at 10Gbit/s onto a single optical fiber. Efficiency per fiber is maximized, while cost is minimized. DWDM technology is the fundamental platform for flexible and scaleable deployments of an optical services network.

The Hitachi Node+Zero solution delivers the well-understood advantages of passive optical networks, including eliminating amplifiers and other active components between the headend and the subscriber - a significant potential reduction in operating expense. Node+Zero micronodes can be deployed as standalone network interface devices at the subscribers' premises, or in combination with a PON ONT to provide increased bandwidth, IPTV, data and POTS voice services, as well as high bandwidth services for businesses.

Hitachi's DWDM system can support all fiber types including older, legacy versions that create challenges in network efficiency. The modular design allows for easy deployment and interoperability within any network. Transmission distances can range from standard long haul, to ELH (Extended Long-Haul), all the way to Super ELH (up to 8000km) within the same system allowing incremental growth as needed within a network.

Currently, Hitachi's AMN6100 DWDM system is deployed across the country spanning 10,000km.
