MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) is an international industry consortium dedicated to worldwide adoption of Carrier Ethernet networks and services. The Forum is comprised of leading service providers, major incumbent local exchange carriers, top network equipment vendors and other prominent networking companies that share an interest in Metro Ethernet.
Hitachi's Salira equipment is certified by the MEF testing procedures and independent test labs. This is a great achievement for the Salira product. MEF-9 and MEF-14 certification means the Salira EPON systems fully support MEF-required service models, and the QoS performance of these services meet MEF standards. This certification puts Hitachi among the other top tier equipment vendors that provide MEF services.
In this certification, the Salira OLT2550, OLT3540, ONU3350G, ONU3350GR and ONU3350S have passed both the feature and performance tests for EPL, EVPL and ELAN services.
